I can't even begin to describe the movie here on Bitog. The raunchy humor and cynicism was over the top. The storyline was poor and next to nonexistent. Ryan Reynolds role could have been better cast by finding the first guy that was 6'2" with a light muscular build that walked into a temp agency.

You do understand that the comic is exactly like that, right? It's full of breaking-the-fourth-wall stuff and absurd humor. His character is totally obnoxious.

Clearly not your kind of movie, but it's not like the filmmakers just decided to be silly for no reason.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. It did its own thing without trying to be another generic superhero movie.

I found it very funny and kind of unique comic book story, to each there own. The movie was a long time coming and as I understand it was developed strongly with Ryan Reynolds.

I liked the movie, two thumbs up

The violence is a little worse than a regular PG-13 comic book movie, but not too much worse.

It has a bit of sex and nudity, but not a lot. About the same as a typical R rated movie.

It has a lot of bad language. Although I don't really think bad words are a big deal.

What really makes Deadpool a hard R movie is the large amount of dirty jokes.

I'd say a 14 year old shouldn't be able to see it. I'd say a 16 year old should be able to see just about anything. 15 year old is about the borderline.

All the critiques you have about the film were done on purpose - What were you expecting to see ?
Did you not read a review before you went to the theater.

Your criticism of the film was like reading a consumer reports review on the new Corvette. They did not like the car because of its rough ride and bad gas mileage..... DUH !!!!!!

My wife wanted to see it at the last minute and I had no clue what the movie was about. She thought it had humor so if she's happy, I'm happy.

I don't think OP has seen enough bad movies. Try Fantastic Four, Pan, Mortdecai, Pixels, Taken 3, or Entourage.

I take it you've never read a Deadpool comic book before, have you?

Since you didn't like the movie, I don't recommend that you read the comics, either.

My wife and I are going to see it again, probably tonight.

BC.

Your argument on the casting is dependent on your problems with the tone of movie mentioned by the first argument.

Assume the script is already greenlit with all the raunchy humor/snarky comments already there, and you are the casting director. Who are you going to cast?
Basically you're looking for the "Van Wilder" type party frat bro character who basically is Ryan Reynolds.

If you want to do a gritty reboot, then of course he's not the right guy, but seems like your main complaint was you were expecting a completely different movie.

Deadpool was actually a pet project that Ryan Reynolds pushed for around ten years before it was made. If any of you recall the movie "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" you may recall that Reynolds played Wade Wilson (AKA Deadpool) in that movie as well. It was a very different take on the character - his mouth was sewn shut.

All in all, it was something different.

If you read anything about the movie, it was Ryan Reynolds that made an in house pilot for the movie. It sat on the shelves for several years until it was leaked online. Then there was tremendous demand from fans to have the film made so Fox was forced to green light it. And they're happy they did as it made tons of money for an R rated film.

The last time I went to a movie theater was more than 12-15 years ago. Since then I only watch movie on DVD, it was Blockbuster then Redbox and now Netflix.
