I had commented in another post about a Dayco belt being noisy, just wanted to post an update.
Veh is a 1993 Chevy 1500 pickup with a 305, tensioner and idler pulleys have been replaced about 1 year ago with GM part.
About 2 months ago, the belt was looking a little worn, so I replaced it with a new Dayco belt, paid extra for it thinking I Was getting a premium belt. Installed belt, went on fine, no issues. The following day I drove the truck and noticed an annoying chirping noise. It wasnt bad at first, went away after driving a few minutes. It progressively got worse over the next few weeks. I checked all pulleys, and couldnt find any issues. Even replaced Idler and tensioner pulleys again, thinking they were the problem, noise was still there and getting worse all the time.
Replaced belt with a GM belt over the weekend (made by Goodyear), noise is gone, truck has been driven every day this week, not one peep.
Wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences, Dayco has always been a respected brand in my book, but their belt for my application was unacceptable.
Upon inspection of the belt after removal, it appeared the grooves were not deep enough, keeping the ribs from making full contact with the pulleys.
