Damaged license plate bracket

I ran my '98 Vette from new without a front plate in Maryland....I kept the plate and front bracket in a rear compartment along with an "invoice" I created showing a front fascia repair...the "invoice" was folded properly to obscure the date on the invoice.

When I purchased the Vette, I told the dealer I didn't want the front license bracket installed (all Vettes came without the front plate bracket and they were dealer installed) and wanted the factory front plate filler left in place. When we went to pick up the car, on the way to the showroom I noticed our Vette at the side of the building and the yard jockey was installing the front plate bracket and the filler plate was, unbelievably, in the trash can....I stopped him from furthering the installation and about that time our salesman showed up and I asked him how it felt to lose a sale for failure to follow the buyers instructions concerning purchasing a $70k car...I thought he was going to cry right there on the spot. Anyway, there were no modifications done to the front fascia, the filler plate was unharmed and we took delivery of the car.

That's exactly what needs to happen a few times in this province to straighten these dealers out. When plates were required up front, you'd sometimes have to twist their arms to get a mounting bracket up front. Now that they're no longer required, they can't screw them on fast enough.

Update: the "JB Weld in the hole and re-drill it" worked just fine. I'll be reinstalling the bracket tomorrow so we'll see how it holds up to the [censored] roads here around Chicago.
