I see about all of these I want to see down here near Daytona, during bike week and all year long. There are alot of bike builders here. One thing I find so hard to believe is that these custom $40,000 + motorcycles, most dont have any air filters. None, they have a sexy chrome turned out carb intake and no air filter, you can look in and see the carb slide. Stupid. Really how much performance gain would you really get, how much do you really need, these bikes ussually just putt around and make noise(alot of noise). Still the builders must be Morons(thats about all I can think of when someone builds a custom bike and does not put a air filter on it). I really have to wonder if the builders are engine builders with actually mechanical knowledge or just designers building "pretty bikes" either way anyone with any mechanical knowledge or intelligence would realize this just does not make sense and these bikes will be lucky to make it 10,000 miles with the sand. Crazy, I cringe everytime I see it and just wanted to comment.

Any custom bike owner I've talked to are more egotistical than are HD riders.

Not very humble.

"Mine's bigger than yours..."

Most custom bike riders aren't really bikers. They're usually people with more money than brains looking for ways to dole out some cash to fluff up their egos. Hence all of the flash and noise. Major "Peacock" complexes.

These are the same people who leave the bike with the battery in it all winter then call AAA or a mechanic to figure out why the bike won't start in the spring.

Money is good but so is a bit of knowledge.

Are you making assumptions or do you know a lot of these folks personally? Maybe they have more money AND brains than the narrow-minded folks who try to sterotype them.

Just askin'.

I've seen very few customs or limited production bikes that I personally find all that attractive. but that's just me. Most have a bit too much bling for my taste. As far as practcality you are pretty much limited to what you can carry in your pants pocket. That alone limits your distance unless you have someone following in a car with a change of clothes, bottle of water, and a tooth brush.

There are still a lot around and will continue to be since these guys spent so much money but I think that type of bike peaked out in sales a few years back. Currently based on what I see on the street the hopped up, slimmed down, baggars are the big seller. Much more practical as you can take it to the bar down the street or coast to coast. And yes there are even custom baggers but we were talking choppers.
