Current upgrade plans

So come payday this friday I have a few upgrades planned. I am planning on picking up one of THESE, since it is on sale for $99 vs the normal $199. I've done my research and it seems like a great choice. Also picking up some Canon 4x6" and 8 1/2x11" photo paper.

As well as one of these puppies for a boot drive, as well as my most used apps. (Web browser, Thunderbird, OOo, Antivirus, itunes, similar).

Best Buy: Intel X-25V 40GB SATA SSD 2.5"


Any thoughts on this? I like my current WD6400AAKS, but I'd like something a bit faster for a boot and app drive.

I have a Canon MP620 and am happy with it. My only negative observations are that it goes through ink pretty rapidly, but the ink cartridges are inexpensive. Also, it takes awhile for it to actually start printing sometimes when I send a print job to it. Print quality is good.
 
Lol I'd love to get the 60GB model.... But that is a little beyond my price range. 40GB should be plenty enough for Windows 7 and a few apps. I hope.
 
If you have all your videos, photos, music downloads, huge files etc stored on another mechanical drive, 40GB should be sufficient as your main fast OS / APP drive.

I'm still using only about 20-30GB including about 18GB of photos and music. Maybe I'm extreme, but if you are careful at putting your files around, 40GB SSD can be the best performance for the dollar spend ever.
 
Picked them up today instead. WOW. It only took 13 minutes to install Windows 7 on it, and it from the moment I hit "boot windows 7" (boot manager) it is something like 8 seconds from "enter" to desktop, Avira AV, ATi driver, Canon printer driver, Gigabyte Easy Tune (monitor software), and openoffice quickload fully loaded. Holy cow this thing is a speed demon! It shuts down in about 3 seconds.


The printer is also a joy. Photo's are fantastically high in quality, and prints fairly quick. Black prints are also very fast for an inket printer, and the built-in duplex printing is a very useful feature to save on paper. No comment on longevity, but so far I'm very, very pleased with them.
