Curius about wix filters.

I heard wix makes an excellent oil filter. Do they have different types such as one being better quality than another? Can wix go 10,000 miles? Thanks for any feed back.

I replaced my wix filter 51356 (napa gold 1356) last night after 4k miles when I did my oil change. It felt heavy compared to the new one and this is after draining it. Oil that came out was very clear if not dark. Keep in mind that oil had < 3k miles on it. But I have no doubt that this filter is great but after seeing how heavy it got after use in 4k miles, I wouldnt go upto 10k miles with it. Again this is totally unscientific and feel free to correct me.

Wix filters are well built, better then most. They will work fine for 10k oci's. Honda specs 10k oci's with their fram built oem filter.. so I'm confident the wix could better that easily.

Wix makes all kinds of filters ..but only markets one level of automotive filter under the WIX® trademark AFAIK. They may have an XD XE offering in the heavy equipment offerings.

10k is no problem for most filters if the mileage is racked up in a timely manner. You can't go 4 years where someone does 2500 a year.

I go 15000 on my Subarus (two of them), no problems in this application...insoluables very low, filter medium looks the same to the naked eye as at 7500 miles.

Titan--just curious, how long does it typicaly take for the 15,000 miles to accumulate? I'm thinking of annual filter changes with NAPA Gold's and that ususally adds up to between 15,000 and 20,000 miles on the 3 cars I change oil on. (I change the oil every 3-4,000 miles with cheap dino)

What is the difference between NAPA Silver and Gold? The handiest NAPA store to me doesn't have the Gold filters, and gives me a line that goes "Well, those are normally in stock but right now....." and in fact they're always "out" of them. Are both filters by Wix? Should I take the time and special order the Gold?

Wix makes the Amsoil EaO filters. They have made a few errors and the filters are not perfect, but they are the best on the market.

On one car, it takes 8-9 months, on the other, it takes about 3.5-4 months.

Seth - your heavy filter after 4K means Wix anti drain valve is still working. That's oil in old filter and it will weigh more than your dry filter.

If you want to compare them fill the new one with oil before you install it and then compare its weight to the old one.

I've cut open a wix filter and there is now doubt in my mind it will go 10,000 miles on a motor that has been maintained properly.

Just so that everyone is clear here. Wix may make every NAPA brand filter ..but only the Gold is a rebadged Wix.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance. Filter media is of better quality and filtering.
I wouldn't think twice on it!
