Have you been around here before?

You’re certainly not listening to any of the advice being given here. The advice from the mechanic about the oil is idiotic.
You really know how to welcome a new guy trying to learn something don't you. Did someone PP in your rice crispies this am?

Or should we just abandon all technical relevancy here?

The advice the mechanic gave is indeed idiotic. It has no basis and in fact may be harmful. There are others in this thread that gave the same response so perhaps you should chastise them as well and ask about their Rice Krispies.

OP ...

- since you claim this MM is one of the best in the country, you won't mind sharing his name and the shop he works at? That way we can confirm the advice you seem to be getting. I will volunteer to call and speak with him directly; I just need the DETAILS of who to speak with.

- your UOA seems a bit confusing to me; your OCIs are all over the place - why is that?

- What lab did this report?; I see no info that would lend credibility to the result

- Do you have any UOAs from BEFORE you started this method of additive supplementation? You state that you've been doing this for 2.5 years, but these four UOAs only cover about 7 months. Where's the baseline data?

- Adding that much gear oil has the risk of a lot of sulfur in the engine; that would affect the acid levels and the emmisions equipment. Where's the sulfur info? How much is "too much"? Where's the TBN/TAN levels?

- For that matter, where's the other physical properties of the lube? (Vis, FP, etc?)

I remain skeptical to say the least, but I'm willing to listen if you can give some specific credible info.

I’m becoming convinced this is a joke. Too many goofy things all at once to be legitimate. Plus the OP is not responding to anything of substance in this thread, just adding more fuel to the fire with each post. He’s not listening or considering anything being said. When posters do that it means they are only trying to troll the board.
No I'm not trying to troll , just been working. Have to keep them wheels rolling.

No I can't do that. But I will tell you people from all over the country wait Mos to get into that shop.

You got guys that been doing this gear oil thing for a million miles , what do you say to that ?
Not with properly functioning DPF's. It's not 1985 anymore. Save a cam, lose 1.5 mpg due to backpressure from non burnable contaminants in the DPF.....ya.....he smart.

Based on the things @dnewton3 pointed out about your data, I'm guessing accurate costing is also not a strong suit. I've got intake spacers I can sell ya if ya want, 2mpg and less soot build up!

You can't do what, exactly? You can't provide the name/shop info? Seems to me that it's not a matter of "can't", but "won't". Kind of a lame excuse. If he's so good, and renowned, then the shop should be willing to take a phone call. What if I'm a prospective new customer? They're not going to take my call????? Ridiculous answer, sir.

As for the rest I inquired about, you're just going to blow that off also, eh?

You've done nothing to establish credibility to your claims. Unless you can provide good info, I shall summarily dismiss this thread as junk.

It's troll behaviour. He's fishing and we are biting.
In the beginning it's fair for the forum to answer and suggest alternatives and/or ask for more info.
But this poster is ignoring important and relevant questions and posting things that just don't really matter or move the discussion forward (or backward).

It's classic, a secret MM that people are waiting months to see. I guess we need a decoder ring or secret handshake to find out who he is.
A click bait original post with the adding of gear oil, asking for advice and then defending when told it was ridiculous. This guy has probably been here before LOL

Anyway I wanted to type that out because I'm supposed to be cleaning my garage and I don't want to do it :)
