CrossClimate+ vs General Altimax AltiMAX 365AW

Both are winter capable all-seasons and General are $140 cheaper installed.

What would you pick and why?

Application is Honda Pilot AWD and currently using garbage Kelly Edge tires at 3/32” which are sketchy in winter driving I do to go skiing.

CrossClimate+ (not CrossClimate2) is a pretty lousy tire compared to the current options.

I'd go with the generals, no question.

I would go with the Michelins.....Never had any issues with there tires...Purchasing since 1975..They have solved many issues that the dealer said...they all do that....

I have the newer Cross Climates on my VW Altrack and could not be happier. VERY quiet tire which is not what you would expect looking at the tread pattern. Handling and braking is excellent and I have seen a You Tube video showing excellent wear at 16,000 miles. They have the triple peak/snowflake rating but can be left on the vehicle year round which I intend to do. I have found them to give superb snow traction and wet handling. I give them a strong thumbs up!

no reviewer has done a direct comparison on the CC vs its competitors directly yet, so you can only make indirect comparisons.

I have the CC2's because that's what the tire chain can get, as the 365AW's were backordered at the time of purchase.

I have Cross Climate 2s on my Mazda. Hands down, the best tire I've ever owned. Went from Altimax rt 43's and the difference is night and day in ALL situations.

Hate to be a nit-picker but the cross climate is an all-weather not all season tire. Unless one is in the E.U.

May want to consider Firestone WeatherGrip A/S as well . Directional tire with plenty of deep sipes .

I did the same on my Accord. Big improvement in every area except ice traction, which is about the same as far as I can tell.
The rt43’s were approx. half worn when I swapped them out.

While CC+ are not as good as 2, Michelin keeps initial performance for long time. Other performance aspects like noise etc.
I would still go Michelin. General is chapter tire of Continental and definitely not in Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental, Pirelli category. IMO, they simply cannot be looked as equal.

Gonna throw out another suggestion, check out the Hankook Kinergy 4S2, those are similar to the CC2 but maybe a bit less premium, but they are also like $50-$60/tire cheaper depending on the size.

Judging by the ratings, the CC2 are tops but the 365AW are also a good choice...other brands as well.
If you can comfortably afford the CC2's buy'em.
If you can't, buy something else.
And I realize that it isn't always about affordability. It is often about what can be justified in the household.

Also, look at their ratings and judge by how they score in areas of what is most important to you and your driving style, vehicle & climate.
This is how I now buy tires. Not what tire is the absolute top rated in a category but, what fits my, or as close to our exact needs for a tire.
Sometimes that could be, e.g., the 3rd place tire that best fits my needs & expectations.

The Rirestones I have had in the past were not very good....Michelins took care of the issues....
