My thought exactly. OP should keep moving until he gets a real psycho neighbor.

Be nice. Be civil. If you are actually in a hurry, say so. If not in a hurry, ask what engine, what MPG it's rated at? Mention alternative cars. Heck sell him some Amsoil.

If only Home Depot/ Lowes had trucks you could use for about an hour for a nominal fee.

Oh wait, they do.

I have not a clue what the OP is complaining about..I would give anything to have him as a neighbor!!!!

My neighbor yells, screams and trashes all the neighbors when she does not get her way in the complex..She has the filthiest mouth I have ever seen..She is 60 years old and gets worse by the day..She has been getting a crazy check for the past 20 years..She even trashes her 70 year old partner in the parking lot who supports this piece of garbage..I used be friends with her partner but had to cut her loose due to the nut job..Thank heavens they are snowbirds and are only here 7 months a year.

I wonder if he's trapped? Did he have a house that he lost to forclosure? So now he's renting, and can't dump the truck (pardon the pun.)

So he could be trying to shift the blame for his circumstance on to the evil oil companies.

Just speculation. I don't know the housing situation there. We were in an apartment for a few months with kids and it just wasn't an optimal circumstance.

Maybe it's just me and where I live, but an apartment doesn't seem the ideal choice for raising a family.

His complaint: His "work truck" is costing him a ton on gas. He's got an F150, newer (1-2 years old). Why an accountant would need a "work truck" still has me confused. He uses it as his daily driver. I just left it as, "those darn oil companies making profits, blah blah".

I just need to avoid this nut from now on.

absolutely not; op could have simply, correctly informed his neighbor that he was using the wrong motor oil; or he could have gone into hths, oil grade, etc; or he could have recommended city star...

I lived in a pretty foul place for a number of years.

I've had neighbors that play music in cars all night long, wake up to broken bottles being smashed on the street, fights, domestic abuse cases, etc.

My "neighbor" for about a year were 7 mexicans in a 2 bedroom home. They spoke no english, so I had to communicate with them on multiple occasions with a translator to explain to them to stop sleeping/loitering on my front steps all night.

I had a guy that liked to run his boat (no lakes here) anytime he felt like it but his race car took the cake. Every day 30-60 minutes of my night were filled with window-shaking revs on his car as he apparently had a psychological need to hear, smell, and feel the car. Usually, he was completely drunk.

Heck, I'd had given anything to have a guy WITH A JOB live next to me.

Postscript: I live in a nice, friendly community now where people have better things to do than annoy each other. I can't complain anymore!

I had a neighbor who once started up his unmuffled motorcycle at 3 AM for no apparent reason, in an otherwise nice townhome complex. I have had a neighbor whose rooster liked to fly over the fence to my side and crow, also at 3 AM - (in the city, no less!). I've lived in a gated apartment community where management gave the paper deliverer the gate code and he came in at 3 AM and left his car running with the radio on for ten minutes at a time.

I think I could handle a guy complaining about his truck.

Same reason everyone with boring jobs needs the largest vehicle possible, despite never needing it and only complaining about gas prices.

QED: A truck is considered manly and cheaper then a Ferrari. Thats all I'll say.

I'll say it too...

dirtbags come in all income levels; though, in my 17 years living in a lower income neighborhood w/ 65% rentals, I'm convinced that the poorer you are, the more trashy you are. arguing and fighting at all hours, police calls for domestic disturbances, drinking all night on the porch loudly conversatin', obscene hip hop 'music' playing, etc.
I know ALL about crazy neighbors...

No no no, it is *B*itog*S*peak.

hey op, i got another one for you: take a nice, big, raw idaho russet potato and jam it in the tailpipe (of the F150;) next time the neighbor drives off, open up your window and listen; within two blocks you will here what happens when he has a little back pressure... note: don't try this at home-entertainment purposes only; adapted from "the complete book of dirty tricks," written by a former cia agent.
