Yesterday was 91 with a South wind gusting to 45 mph. Today was 48 with NW wind gusting to 35 mpg. Tonight, it could freeze. In between (last night), we received golfball (pingpong ball)-sized hail. Our new(er) Anderson Renewal windows and screens survived. I don't see major damage to our 3 yr-old roof -- other than vents, etc. I will probably still have the adjuster come out to look at it.

Was just northeast of you last night in Shawnee, and was not nearly as bad. We had about 30 seconds of hail and lots of rain. The KC metro area set a new record high of 91, which SHATTERED the old record by 9 degrees. Nearly unheard of to break a record by that much. And we are supposed to be back in the mid to upper 80's by the weekend again. That is normal for June in this area. CRAZY

As they say in the south. If you don't like the weather give it 5 minutes. The last few days we've been in the mid 80's low 90's. Last night rain and hail. Today 60's with lows in the 40's.

Thankfully, our cars were inside. A coworker of mine got her Santa Fe dinged up real bad (and windshield broken), because she had to drive through it.

My kids go to school in Shawnee, and there was frost on the ground this morning. Car stated 35 degrees by their school (in a valley).

I'm almost scared to call insurance. I don't think we have $1K worth of damage to our roof. The shingles themselves look OK from the ground. Our insurance is already quite high, and we had the roof replaced by them about 3 yrs ago. I don't really care about the dents in the door, rips in lawn chair, and holes in deck box. The roof would be my main concern. Should I call them? I guess I could have my roofer look at it before calling insurance?

I would get a roofer to look at your shingles. It can be hard for a layman to see damage to shingles. Last year we had a hailstorm and about 50% of my neighbors got a new roof out of it. I still have to get a loss adjuster to come and look at mine. I don't see any damage to my untrained eye, but my neighbor got a new roof and he's right next door.

I called my roofer. He will look at it within the next few days. I can live with the other minor cosmetic damage. I'm most concerned with the shingles.

Update: My roofer claimed the roof needs to be replaced. I phoned in a claim to AmFam today. We'll see what the adjuster says. The claim is going to their catastrophic dept. Our neighbors' is a total loss. 2 new roofs in 3 years. Insurance premium = priceless! I will probably shop around this summer for new homeowners anyway. I dropped my autos from AmFam to save over $300 every 6 months. Thus, my home premium was going up anyway -- since I no longer have the multiple policy discount. If our roof does need replacing, it will wait until mid-late summer. KS typically has the most severe storms in spring - early summer.
