Just like the title says. This is our tow car we tow behind our motorhome. About 371 miles away from home. Noticed some oil drip underneath car...not sure when this started or if it got hit by something while being towed?

Looks like a hair line Crack in the assembly. No oil above or anywhere else that I could see.

Maybe seal...but oil coming from bottom?

Taking to a local shop to confirm and have front diff fluid checked and see if safe to flat tow home? Will rent car for rest of trip if necessary. Bummer...

Any help or suggestions? Have a great night all.

Thats a casting seam not a crack. It looks like the oil seal is pushed out. I would check the vent on the differential and make sure it isnt blocked then replace the seal and recheck.
I'm hoping that is the case. I appreciate you taking the time to help. I will update thread as I find out more tomorrow morning. Hoping I picked a good shop. Have a wonderful night. Thanks again.

My money is on a bad seal.... Not a crack. At least don't start worrying until you have a correct diagnosis. That looks to be a fairly healthy leak. I would drive it and get it good and warm. Get under it with a comfortable creeper, and take some brake cleaner and shop towels, spray the hell out of it, and get it clean and completely dry.

Then just sit under it for several minutes with a good, bright light and watch. If it's a crack you'll see something getting wet in short order. Remember, dust and dirt can act like a wick, absorbing oil and liquid, and drawing fluids away from the point of origin from the actual location of the leak itself.
