Counterfeit spark plugs?

I have bought all my spark plugs on eBay and never had an issue. I have a couple vetted sellers I trust. When I receive them, I double check their legitimacy on the NGK website. You always have 100% eBay protection if they are not legit. The seller I have used for at least 15 years is "partscontainer" on eBay. Not the absolute lowest prices, but no concerns with counterfeit products. I also buy spark plugs from car dealers selling on eBay...there are Toyota, BMW and Ferrari dealers selling on there.

If you shop the lowest seller and they are in China, 100% you will get a fake product. But there are sellers in the USA selling counterfeit as well...check how long they have been selling...only a few months or less watch out.

The 4.0 jeep engine with the waste spark system is very particular about it's plugs. Copper plugs only!

I don't know how it would react with Denso U -Groove plugs in it.

There are many threads on the jeep forums about installing fancy plugs and the engine simply will not start after.

The auto parts stores always push whatever special plugs are the plug of the month, I'm sure their guy gets a bonus for selling them but they are wrong for the jeep.

So I would rather just order plugs vs fight with the counter clown over a plug.
I bought NGK Iridium IX plugs for my waste spark 2005 Ford Vulcan 3.0 OHV engine and they run strong. Funny, but Rock Auto does not list a NGK Iridium for the Jeep 4.0 , at least for the 2000 model year I looked at.

....If you're buying spark plugs online, you should probably be told about what we came to learn though testing over $500 worth of NGK Laser Iridium Champion Iridium and Denso spark plugs - and that's around 1/3 of them out there seems to be just fake. We go through how to spot that and what you might be able to test to determine if what you receive is legit....
