Could someone please explain the yo yo pricing?

The stations I described jumped again last week, all at the same time. When some stations elsewhere had 87–octane regular gasoline at $2.50 or less, the Sheetz, Wawa, and two RaceWays all leapt to $2.99 and are still in that ballpark. Other stations are still lower by $0.30 or more. I'm getting premium 93–octane at BJ's for less than the new price at those four stations.
