Could it be?

I'd wager Altimas/Rogues etc. will be rolling off the line with CVT's a good while yet.
Their war on the manual transmission is another part of what's killing them. I shopped them years ago, and when I discovered that not only was the M/T option gone from the Altima and Maxima, but the only automatic was a CVT, I lost Nissan's phone number.

They've taken a very Toyota approach to turning their vehicle line into toasters, but at least Toyota offers what is probably a very good 8-speed conventional auto in the Camry. I can't be the only one that's disappointed in their approach. 4DSC seems like a lifetime ago.

A manual option is viable on just a limited number of cars these days. That's not the manufacturers fault. It's as popular as manual windows. How many people would buy a new Altima or Maxima with manual windows today?

I'd not get too excited just yet. Nissan markets the Pathfinder as a towing vehicle, but a lot of folks (wisely IMO) want nothing to do with towing and a CVT no matter how high Nissan rates it (it's a lot IIRC).

This is my feeling as well..
