Could i put old tires out to the curb?

Dont you think its a tad ridiculous to not pay $5 to not have to try to figure out what do with a stack of rotten tires sitting around nobody wants? Pick your battles... this is a strange one to wage. If your neighbor came over with a worn out tire and handed you a $5 bill and said here you take this tire, I dont want it, would you do it? And do what with it? Thats what you're doing to yourself.
Idk, it's kind of a pet peeve I have. People complain about tires in the ditch. Everything else is free to recycle. Tires should be too.

Im very rural about a hear ago went to town 18 miles away for 15 miles both sides of the road were litter with tires counted at least 100. Called Modot 4 men, 2 dump trucks w/ drivers spent at least picking them up. Bottom line we in Mo payed for the disposal. Just hope they caught them.

Same here - you pay up front on the new tire, even if your keeping the old. Its only $2 - needs to be raised, hasn't in a long time. The county recycling will also take the old tires - its next to the oil recycling casks.

Why other states haven't figured this out is beyond me. It proves there really not working for us. Better to have tires in the ditch and oil down the storm drain. SMH.

Why should the recycling costs of tires need to be increased? The idea behind recycling fees is to keep them at he absolute minimum to offset some of the backend costs. Start charging more and it's counterproductive (ie, people won't do it...)

If the $2 covers the cost to recycle the tire than I agree with you. Its been $2 here for as long as I can remember, so I made an assumption it no longer covers the cost to deal with them properly and there being funded with other tax dollars. If they can dispose of them for $2 all the better.

As for people not doing it - you have no choice here. You buy a new tire, you pay the $2.00 up front. Dropping off at the recycling center is always free.

So, is this post about your pet peeves, then?

Because the answer to your question depends on where you live, and since you haven’t shared that, there’s no way that anybody can answer whether or not tires will be picked up at your curbside.

Nobody wants junk tires, if you put them curbside for your trash collection, and they don’t pick them up, they’re just gonna sit there.

So, this really is about your pet peeve, isn’t it?

We can put tires out for the trash guy but you are limited to just a couple of tires every once a week pickup .

I guess I'm fortunate. I can take used tires to my county's local transfer station for recycling, along with used motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, brake fluid and batteries.
