If you haven't heard....about (#)!* time. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/yourmon...co-returns-perk-help-shoppers-beat-lines.html

"Costco is introducing a new perk that will allow certain members to have their own private shopping hours.

Executive tier members will be able to shop for an hour earlier than regular Gold Star members from June 30.

The big box retailer will now allow its top tier members, who pay $130 a year, to shop from 9am to 10am on weekdays and Sundays, and 9am to 9:30am on Saturdays.

'Our Executive Members are our most loyal members, and we want to reward them for their commitment to Costco,' the company told employees in an email seen by Business Insider.

The retail giant said that the top tier members would also start receiving a $10 monthly credit for Instacart orders, as well as $150 worth of other benefits and savings on Costco services.

Around half of Costco shoppers have Executive level memberships, but they account for 73 percent of sales, according to the company.

The top level also offers a 2 percent rebate on all Costco purchases made that year up to a total of $750.

Costco hopes the new shopping hours will reduce traffic in car parks and lines at checkouts, which is a key customer complaint......."

Interesting. In the US I think they already have enough customer that early to open early instead of 10am. If anything opening earlier regardless will be more beneficial than reserving it for someone only.

the tukwila wa store used to do that in the past for buisness folks , but stopped during the P. if you have been to a some costco in the morning, it can be a mad house . lines waiting to get in

This reeks of upcharge trapping. Can't imagine how many will upgrade when they show up and are told to either wait or upgrade.

Is this in England/Europe? I know in Fl they had early shopping for old folks. Don't know if they still have it.

I was under the impression that those with reseller permits could come in early. There are also the Business Centers that have early opening hours since they primarily deal with businesses. They're not open eveninings and are closed on Sundays.

I wonder how this will affect morning store prep. When I worked at Costco, we were usually working up until 10:00am to get the store ready. Some days were easier than others, but stuff is always getting restocked and moved around.

Meanwhile they seem to have gone the way of BJ’s on Groupon (giving back gift cards equal to the membership—thought that would never happen).

We’re executive members it opens 6 am sweet! Otherwise useless.

I am a costco fanboy and shareholder so any negative things I say are somewhat tongue in cheek. I went to a costco last Saturday where there were no stray shopping carts. Imho demographics

Plus that citi costco card gives us 5% off their already low gas prices; and 4% off the gas price of other national brand stations. That often makes their own card cheaper than other gas stations' store-brand credit card or cash discount.

Spot on. And the annual rebate, or whatever it is, pays for the Membership. I get one from Costco and another (bigger) from the Citi Costco card.
Bring home the groceries!

If that's cheaper gas, I don't want to see the stains around there!

Saw the British news paper and thought it might be there. I think it was during Covid that Costco's in FL allowed early shopping just for elderly folks.
