Don't know for sure what is in it but they've researched it and have put enough in to clean not just maintain.

Their 5x EPA required claim is performance based. Top tier typically has 3 times EPA additives.

They also said they may think about joining top tier but have to wait until all stations are converted.

Finally. The Gilroy location isn't too far from me, so I'll be sure to start filling there whenever possible.

If you're in the Bay Area wouldn't the Hayward or San Jose stations be much, much closer?

Bay Area Costcos are so busy, you lose any gas saving while queuing, not to mention your time.

I actually live in the Monterey Area, but go up to San Jose/San Francisco quite often - and I pass by the Gilroy location on 101.

Not a major issue for us Prius drivers.

Interestingly, the San Jose Costco says "Contains 10% Ethanol".

Other gas stations say "Contains up to 10% Ethanol".

I wonder if that helps them keep the price down.

Anyway, today was my first fill of gas at a clean power Costco. Annoyingly, when I was there, I didn't even look for the stickers proclaiming "Clean Power".

I think my Mercedes preferered the last fill of Chevron, but let's see how the tank goes.

There are fees involved for the tope tier label so they make skip that. BP has opted nt to join top tier

I would hope so too. I think that their members understand the basic philosophy of the business, and do not feel the need to fall for the hype.

I would go a little further and say nearly nobody knows about top tier. People have a sense that Chevron and other brands are better but they don't understand why.

"Clean Power" is a much better marketing logo for the general level of consumer understanding than "Top Tier".

Hmm, I could agree with him. False advertising, as you must pay for a membership to get those prices. At Vons gas stations, anyone can pay the listed price and members get a discount from that.
