Hi all! Recently noticed the exhaust flange rusted and exhaust pipe is totally disconnected from muffler. Ive noticed my gas mileage is up based on loose calculations. After some research it seems power and mileage increases from not going through a muffler. It got me thinking..and besides noise wondering if the emissions offset the savings in fuel mileage? I assume this was thought of? Does the burning of less fuel from running without an exhaust exceed the pollution of running without a muffler? I got to thinking of possibly replacing the stock muffler with a less restrictive muffler. I dont mind it being a bit louder but within reason of course...after a 2 hr drive yesterday the noise was not bearable. Since I need to have it welded anyways i wonder if going aftermarket would be worth considering? Thoughts/opinions welcome.
