I need to top up the coolant. Honda calls for Pro Honda HP coolant. What I have in my stash is -

1) Prestone AMAM which I use in my Sierra.

2) Prestone Command Heavy Duty Nitritre Free. Use this in MD trucks at work.

3) Prestone Command Heavy Duty Nitrited ELC. Use this in the one truck at work with a Cat engine.

I am inclined to use what I have instead of buying the Honda coolant unless someone can convince me otherwise. Out of the three I have, which one will work best?

BTW I use Mobil Delvac Super 1300 10W30 oil in my bike instead of the Honda oil.

I only have 5K kms/3.2K mi on the bike. We have a very short riding season and I am busy at work. Don't know if I need to replace the coolant at this low mileage. I ride very conservatively and don't flog the engine.

I recommend you buy the coolant from the Honda mc dealership. Yeah, it's expensive but.....

Drained out the 9 year old coolant today. It looked pristine with no signs of contamination at all. I will do a distilled water rinse tomorrow morning. I have decided to fill with the Prestone Command nitrite free coolant.

The cooling system is so tiny, coolant capacity is 1.1 litre.

From what I understand, there aren't convenient indicators for coolant corrosion inhibitors becoming exhausted. By the time the glycol deteriorates to show a funny color, the coolant has been long past its serviceable state. Meaning, its expectable that it comes out from service looking similar to fresh coolant, but if it comes out looking different, then its been dead.

The nitrite-free is what I would have gone with, too.

To not open a new thread, I have also a small moped from Honda “RS150R” that use the smaller engine from CBR 150R.
The coolant from the factory is coloured blue, if I change it with pink one G12 it will be a problem ?.
Or strictly must be blue one ? (sorry to be effort)
Regards,
Andrew

get the honda coolant.

i rode a GW 1500 for years and used only Honda motorcycle coolant.
never a problem with a leak or bad water pump. Sold with 96k on it
manual says HONDA PRE-MIX COOLANT (don't know if varieties from your country), but I will go to buy exactly this one as you mention.
The photo below is the coolant from HONDA I can find locally here, hope to be the correct one.
