I have a 2008 Suzuki with about 34,000 on it. I just recently did a coolant exchange, strict exchange. I do NOT trust flush machines at all. I use ZEREX conventional green as the very basic ethylene glycol is whats req for my zuke. I noticed Zerex (as well as many other brands) offers a chemical based flush, a protectant (assume its an additives bundle) and a Super concentrated chemical flush. Has anyone used these products at all? Is it worth it to add the protectant after the flush or is it overkill. Right now all I've done is drain, flush with water, cycle, purge and refill. The car's pretty new so no deposits or "gunk" but if these products do more for the cars life I'd be interested to know.

at 34k certainly dont think you need them. Id do exactly what you did... repeat if you want a more thurough changeover (or remove the hoses and block plugs).

Lots of long-lived radiators doing nothing but changing coolant regularly. In NH, Id be more concerned with corroding from the outside in!

I feel like it's the right way to do it, but when I saw all those secondary AFC products I thought I might be missing a step to success. Lol thanks for the input.

You don't need any of those chemical flushes or additives as long as you change the coolant about every 2 years.

Yes, I use the Valvoline's Xerox additives at work. Most flush machines use gravity and your car's waterpump to do the flush.

Currently the one we have use an electric motor to flush. The kit comes with "Super Flush" a water pump lubricant and a sealer. In cars with neglected cooling systems i.e. 150k miles or whatever, the super flush doesn't do squat.

We all throw the sealer away because it guarantees a return from an angry customer that doesn't have heat anymore.

I didn't know Valvoline's coolant brand made copy machine products as well :P JK (Xerox) But I do very much appreciate this input. I was suspect of the sealer and now I will more than likely avoid it, if the flush is garbage also than I will just stick to the plan. Thanks :)

LMAO, apparently I failed the spelling bee.

Sorry man had to point it out lol. The worst incident I've ever seen of brand name mix up was a customer that came in an insisted that she got better service at Vaseline! We tried to correct her but she just kept saying it. The guy downstairs was practically in hysterics after this direct quote. "I always get serviced with Vaseline." Mind you this is a 65+ old woman...

I don't think you need those cleaners in a well maintained system.

I have used both back in the old days of HIGH silicate green coolant where sometimes some scum or buildup would appear even with 2 year intervals. Even then they worked marginally.

I have really noticed that today's coolants keep the system much cleaner than in the past if you change them every 2 to 3 years +/-.

Use good water.
