Does anyone know if a small amount of coolant in the oil (from a very small head or intake manifold gasket leak) will cause significant deterioration of the oil filter media? The oil is changed every 3,000 miles but the filter stays on for a year and 15,000 miles. I'm concerned that the small amount of coolant might weaken the media over time and make it more likely to rupture where it's glued to the endcaps. Thanks!

It depends on the severity of the coolant infiltration. If your engine can tolerate the level of coolant ingress without damage, so can the filter. If the level of coolant ingress mandates the changing of the oil in some high frequency, then I would not bother with an expensive filter.

Try the GM coolant tabs.

Sounds like a perfect case for the caged Ecore filters. You may want to consider that option.
