Cool Roof Performance -early observations...

The big heat wave is over and were back to low 80's

The Shasta white shingle have Owens Corning highest solar reflective index, or tied for #1.
The Prior roof was dark and non reflective.

The difference is dramatic.

On an 82 degree day in the upstairs is now only 1-2 degrees hotter than the downstairs vs 8-10 or more. The attic never triggered the 105 start on the attic fan.
Impressed so far.

We had our first 90 degree day since install and I'm really impressed. This performance delta is outstanding.

At the end of the day the temp probe in the sun was at 96 degrees and after a full day of heat soak the living area and bedroom never exceeded 7. The second story was only 81 after baking in the sun all day, the attic never reached 105.

The air-con never turned on.

This was 505 PM not AM. (I know my clocks arent synchronized)

Yep Shasta white is what I will put on my house in South Texas after the builder grade roofing ages.
