Good read there. I will continue reading it tonight. You know if i were younger i might have liked this enough to get into it.
I wanted to be a watchmaker. Watch and clock movements still fascinate me.

Funny how watches/clocks don't get sprayed with lube once in a while. At least the ones I've seen. Maybe they'd last longer. For example, I guess a Breitling will run forever with opening up the back and spraying in some PTFE lube spray.
 
My ignorance of watch oiling is as wide as Oprah's butt.

So my barbaric idea to open up the back and let loose a nasty barrage of teflon-doped penetrating oil is not the way to go?
