Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus

Yes, that is a QA issue. The mold didn't completely close. There are a number of reasons why this could have occurred. Every tire manufacturer would have a tolerance for this and this looks to my eye to be excessive.

At this level, I think the only problem it will cause is noise.

Thank you, your inside knowledge is always appreciated. Sucks that even tires have QA issues now. Hopefully it doesn't cause any issues in the future

Tires have always had QA issues. This particular problem is a mild one in comparison!

Now this has me wondering if different retailers have different "grades" of tires and are priced accordingly, similar to how Costco supposedly has higher grade produce than other retailers. Maybe there's a reason the retailer I purchased from was cheaper than the rest!

I'm a bit shocked at how refined these tires feel. Completely silent and stable up to 100mph! However, I have noticed the softer sidewalls when changing directions rapidly (like a slalom). I don't think it would ever be apparent during normal driving, but I wouldn't take these tires autocrossing!

Yes. For summer months. I run winter tires now.
Excellent performance! No issues whatsoever.
I'm now running my Michelin LTX A/T 2's good enough for year around. The Duramax only gets a couple thousand miles a year now that the DRV fifth wheel is gone.

My apologies for perpetuating the circle jerk, but the cold weather characteristics of these tires continue to impress. No snow, but the DWS06+ feel great around freezing temperatures, whereas my old Pzero AS+ felt like rocks and made the car feel undriveable.

Really curious if they will feel too soft in hotter temperatures...

They ain’t Pilot Super Sport in hot weather. But, better IMO than 80% of Max performance summer tires. Sidewalls on other hand, ruin the experience.

I've been enjoying mine. They are not a super sport tire, but for general usage they are hard to beat.

Saw the new Consumers Report rating of these and they rate well, but the "customer satisfaction" rating is low. Most tires have similarly poor ratings, though, so not sure what's up with that. The DWS06 generally have fantastic word of mouth support.

I was very pleased with them on my 23 Civic Touring Sedan, was about to replace them at about 28k miles, they were rotated every 5k and wore very evenly. At 28k they were at 5/32" i was expecting longer life but would have bought them again. We recently sold the car and now just have the HRV EX-L with Continental TrueContact Tour 54's which seem to work well.

I have over 31k miles on mine, they still seem to have plenty of tread left

They worked decently well in the snow with RWD

I put a set on the Club Sport before I took it on the BMW Classic Car Club of America's 20th Anniversary Tour. I'm very happy with their performance.

This whole category of tire isn't for when you have snow/ice in mind. It's for all other conditions, with compromises so that you can sometimes get away with driving it on snow/ice. Like, if the roads unexpectedly get a light dusting of snow while you were at work, you can depend on it to get you home. Can it handle more snow/ice than that? Maybe, but don't plan on it.

This particular tire doesn't buck that trend for the category. It just does the formula better than almost all others.

^This.
I have them for cold late springs and early falls. In CO, snow can fall literally any month. Come November, snows go on. Since I don't drive in snow this winter on my BMW (cannot ski a lot), when it snows, ANY snow, I take Tiguan or Sequoia that have snow tires on.

They are pretty bad in snow unless brand new, confirmed today. Just keep your expectations realistic, it’s not a winter tire.
I'll never drive the Club Sport in snow; I just wanted a tire that I could drive in sub freezing temperatures. I suspect Its last track day was at the Classic and Motorsport Festival at the BMW Performance Center last October.
