CONSUMERGUIDE : Test drive of '22 Hyundai Ioniq 5

I like that it has separate hvac controls and a volume knob. Unlike some EVs that glue a 32” flat screen to the dash and you have to use the touch screen to control everything. Very clean interior.

Its a $55,000 compact car, I would hope that it is nice, glad it is. ;)
Compact car? I can only assume you've never seen one in the flesh. It is not that compact... Size wise it's roughly the same as a a Rav4 or CRV.

Personally, I'm not feeling the "Lost in Space Robot meets DeLorean" styling, the but the sister car (Kia EV6) looks really good to me. It also looks way bigger in person than in photos.

No I haven’t seen it I was just judging by the picture and to me if it’s around the same size as the RAV4 or CRV that to me is a compact.

In fact at one time the CRV and RAV4 was a real budget compact.
One thing for sure, there will be dozens of options for those who want an EV in a matter of a few years.
Definitely not for everyone.

The steering wheel center and the seats are similarly odd compared to the other sharp-edged styling but I would buy an Ioniq 5 if I could justify making the jump from my Kona. But it's also really too big for both my needs and my driveway access.

I mean, I guess it depends on one's definition of "compact"... A 2002 CRV looks like a "compact suv" to me. Today's CRV looks about like a late 90's Passport in size. Cars in the US just keep getting bigger and bigger...

A new CRV or Rav4 don't seem all that compact to me. Neither does this thing. I will say though that it does look like a regular hatchback when looking at it online. It definitely looks big in person. It looks better in person as well.

There is at least one of these driving around where I am. Do not really like an Ioniq. An Ioniq5? Yes.

I'd get one. And yes it looks nice.

Also doesn't look like a cartoon car. Which is good.
