Common dreams/nightmares everyone has

I usually never remember any dreams, but about year ago after surgery, for awhile I was having some crazy wicked dreams, waking me at times. I think it was the meds they had me on then.

Haven't had 3-7 but I get the "quicksand" dream--

not literally quicksand but I have to do something important, like get my kid from daycare, and I keep getting thwarted at every turn. And I'm hours overdue.

The car breaks down, the cellphone's dead, I've lost track of time, all of the above.

Yes to most of the dreams on the original list (especially the failing firearm).

I also have two other recurring dreams....

One is where I am standing on the ground and the sky above me is absolutely filled with gigantic aircraft. They are flying in every direction way too low and too slow. They appear to defy gravity but yet also seem about to crash.

The other I am standing on the roof of a skyscraper and am so terrified of falling off that I literally can't move.

I had a variation on #3 last night. Back in my previous home, with my long deceased dog. He ran out of the yard over a weekend and returned as a puppy.

I never had him as a puppy as we got him from the breeder ultimately from an Air Force family deploying to Germany and they didn't want to put the dog in quarantine. He was 18 months old when we got him in the 1990s.

Last night in my dream, I had him back as a puppy

I've had several of the ones mentioned (particularly the ones associated with anxiety).

Similar to the puppy dream I have had long-dead come back in my dream and feel so happy that he was actually just lost and not dead. Then I wake up.

I will add (unless I missed it): teeth falling out. I hate that one.

Has anyone ever died in their own dream? Is it possible to continue the dream after you "died"?

I've been in dreams were I was just about die, then woke up that very instant (in a sweat).

My dreams are in the 1st person, so I don't now how the dream could continue.

I haven't had it for a couple years, but I would have a regular dream that I was driving and couldn't see out of the windows or reach the pedals.

I don't really have dreams, oddly enough. I have had the one where I feel like I'm about to roll off my bed and suddenly wake up.

When I was a sophomore in college I had a collapsed lung. I was extremely thin back then, and I guess it is somewhat common in guys with my build. I was in the hospital for two weeks and had to have surgery. While in the hospital, I never slept. Alarms and machines were going off every hour, people in and out, etc. I didn't have dreams, but started seeing/hearing things that weren't there after so much time without sleep.

I'm surprised about the failing firearm dream. I've had this dream many times despite not owning a firearm. I thought I was special. I would guess this is similar to the "punches do nothing" dream mentioned above.

Pee dream is terrible. Now the very last thing I do before bed is to pee. Otherwise I dream I go to use the restroom but I can't turn the light on.

Funniest ???

one that I ever had that was clearly shared was in 2nd year Uni, staying at a residential college owned and operated by Opus Dei (I kid you not).

One night I had a "hag"...not the first, not the last.

When I could move, I was bolt upright, and went to the common room for coffee, as I didn't feel like any more sleep that night.

walked down the hall towards the common room, and as I got level with another guy's room (Islander, from PNG), heard him start screaming..."stay away, get off me bit@h", and came flying from his room.

We made coffee, and shared our experiences.

Same "dream", minutes and metres apart.

that IS strange. I too used to have the sleep paralysis thing at our 2nd house in particular. When it happened it would always be in the dawn hours of first light beginning to illuminate the room. That of course jibes with the body coming out of rem sleep and into alpha. The sleep paralysis phenomenon is due to the brain leaving the rem sleep "circuit breaker" on which is a disconnection of the nervous system being able to trigger muscle motion. Usually the circuit breaker is closed and the body allowed to be moved by the brain again in sequence with the wake up process but sometimes it happens out of sync and causes the sleep paralysis thing while we are semi conscious and in a sort of gray area between sleeping and waking.

The situation you described, however, seems very coincidental or perhaps it could have been supernatural... who knows. Very unlikely from a statistical standpoint, for two people to have the same perception of the same "presence" of a super natural entity in the same setting in same time frame. Fascinating !!

When i was single, i dreamed that the alarm clock went off. I awoke , jumped into the shower. After dressing and going into the kitchen, i saw that it was only 2 am.

I have the firearms malfunction dream. No matter how hard I try I can't pull the trigger on my pistol. It is bad because I need it for protection at the time.

I also have the back to high school or college dream. The problem is I forgot to go to class for weeks or I forgot my class schedule and I am lost in the school.
