I always take a cold shower after watching the hand expression videos on YouTube.

It's been a couple of weeks and I'm sticking with the cold showers. I feel great after shower.

I wonder if the water gets much colder in the winter here in S. Cal. I guess I'll know, soon enough.

A cold water shower will raise your blood pressure. So if you want to analize in detail it is probably on the hole better to take a warm shower to lower your blood pressure and relax you at the same time. So I will say a hot shower is more healthy

Or it may lower it. http://www.medicaldaily.com/benefits-col...r-health-289524

I am really not sure there is a legitimate knock against cold showers from a health and wellness perspective. They're just entirely unpleasant!

Not sure I have any confidence in this guy. I realize cold weather is not the same principle bu:

Mayo Clinic: "Blood pressure generally is higher in the winter and lower in the summer. That's because low temperatures cause your blood vessels to narrow — which increases blood pressure because more pressure is needed to force blood through your narrowed veins and arteries."

I remember reading that that there were risks associated with people that jumped into cold water in winter. Granted its not that extreme but again the same principle.

I was probably 25 years ago, but I read some research (from Soviet sports medicine?) saying that alternating between both hot and cold (in the same shower)can aid in muscle recovery...

It is/ was my understanding that this phenomenon was temporary, as the body acclimatized itself quickly. I am sure that it is a more-than-trivial matter, though, for those with conditions exacerbated by rapid fluctuations in blood pressure... A cold shower is nothing if not a shock to the system.

My well water is about 50F, give or take. First few minutes would be warm, as the basement is 70+ in the summer, but in the winter the water can be a bit chilly.

I usually shower in the evening and don't need the wake-up. If I shower in the day it's because I've been biking and the hot water feels good. Switching to cold (or at least cool) is something I should try, see if that cools me off faster.

As already noted, the OP lives in a hot climate where the pipes are buried very shallow, so that "cold" water isn't even cold.

When I lived in the south I could easily takes showers In the summer with only the "cold" water because it wasn't cold at all.

After a few minutes in the cold shower it starts to feel like it's warming up.

I like the refreshing feeling after the shower.

I think I'll shoot the water with my IR temp gauge to see what the temperature is.
