COA key on 32bit vs 64bit Windows

Here is the thing. I put together a cheap gaming PC for my son a couple of years ago. I installed retail Windows 7 professional 32bit (student discount). He played Battlefield 3 on it (and some other things) and it performed fine so far. The thing is, the upcoming Battlefield 4 is rumored to require 64bit OS (and more RAM than 32bit supports, I guess). I downloaded a legal 64bit Windows 7 ISO file. Will the COA key I purchased be good for 64bit version installation on the same PC, or do I need to buy a new copy of windows?

It will work -- license key doesn't know/care about 32/64-bit.

its ok same key works with both versions.

If you have activation problems just call microsoft.

As others have stated, yes you should be fine with activation.

I just wanted to comment on the RAM specification for Battlefield 4. 64-bit operating systems are basically built for computers with more RAM (more RAM = more multi-tasking), hence the upgrade needed for the game.

as long as they are both the same version (starter,home premium,professional,ultimate) you should be fine.

recently needed to wipe/clean install a computer with win 7 Pro x64, and the only disc i had on hand was for win 7 Home Premium x64.
it threw a stink that the key didn't match the version on the dvd, but then it downloaded the additional components from the interwebs.

when activation fails say you want to use the phone service ,
its an automated system that you type numbers in and it tells you numbers to type in.

takes about 5-10 min use your phone's keypad n put phone on mute and ull be done in no time.

BTW, some forums claim BF4 is not going to be much different from BF3 system requirements wise. We'll see.

OK, a follow up question. When I install Virtual PC in Windows 7 64 bit, can I install Win 7 32 bit as a host with the same COA?
I'm new to the virtual computing.

I would assume the COA would work on the 32-bit version, considering it is inter-changeable as we've already covered in this conversation. However, I could not find any definitive information directly from Microsoft or any other reliable source. I'd just wait until you have Virtual PC installed and find out by attempting it.

If you need troubleshooting at that point, maybe we could figure something out. Until then, just try it I suppose.

Edit:

As Virtual PC is an application, it should recognize that you have a single key showing proof of ownership for Windows 7 (whatever edition you have). Therefore, I wouldn't think you should have an issue at all.

Also, a reply to the Battlefield 4 specs, they may be similar but as I stated before, 64-bit is basically built for computers that can handle more RAM efficiently (efficiently being the main idea I meant to portray to begin with).
