Ok so i noticed when getting on my car hard it was hard to shift the shifted didn't want to go in gear. Didn't grind or nothing just felt like the clutch wasn't all the way in. I check the fluid in the Transmission its good and the fluid In the clutch master cylinder. I thought it was a little low. I out about 1 maybe 2 oz in just couple of quick spills and it brought to about 1/8 in from the top and I havent drove it yet but I noticed the clutch engages considerably quicker. My fiance said the same thing so I dont think its my brain dyno playing tricks on me. What do you guys think about this ? Does it make sense that being a little low would make that difference. Thanks guys

It does not make sense. As long as there was enough to cover the plunger in the master cylinder, way at the bottom of the clutch fluid reservoir, it should still work fine.

If you get air in a saturn clutch system, you'll know it, and it will never work right again. PS, they're pretty reliable.

If you think you're having clutch problems, turn the engine off, go for your gear, then turn it back on in gear.

Soft bushings. When you let off the gas to shift, the entire engine and transmission shifted, causing the gate to move while you were trying to find it.

Check your engine mounts, I had that problem on my Honda, found I had 2 broken mounts and the rest close to it, replaced them and I am back to driving like I mean it..

Which bushings are you referring to? The mounts are good. One is brand new. It's not that it moves or anything its just like if i try to stick it In gear with the clutch only 3/4 of the way down. Not enough to grind but enough to make it hard to shift.

Does it shift well while driving normally? If so, then it could be any of the rubber (sorry, I meant this when I said bushings earlier,) from the transmissions and engine mounts to the shifter stay bushings.

Yea when driving normally it does fine. How can I check the bushings? The mounts are good that was my first thought but they were all good

DexIII in the Saturn manual trans.. Yes, the manual trans.

Put in some DexIII rated fluid, not DexVI compliant. There aren't too many but they are out there.

I put Petro Canada Dura-Drive MV in my Saturn 5 speed and it was pure butter. The stuff is awesome.

Yes, Dex III. I put Amsoil ATF in my Saturn 5-Speed and it shifted much better.

Super easy job too. To fill in the dipstick tube, I put one long neck funnel in another funnel to get it to reach to the tube.

You may have been low enough on fluid that your addition 'fixed' the problem.
But it really does not seem like that happened, from your description.
Being suddenly fixed adds to the mystery. Linkage does not repair itself, and worn clutch parts don't fix themselves.

Tell the NAPA store to contact me, I will set them up as a retail account.

Or you can contact me directly, we'll get you all set up a PC (preferred customer) and you can buy Amsoil the same price I pay.
