Clutch Master Cylinder Question

I just changed the master cylinder on my 94 Corolla. Everything drives fine and the clutch operation is much improved (changed the slave cylinder 2 weeks ago; ended up being both were leaking). However, the new master cylinder operation is different than the old factory cylinder. First off, the master cylinder pushrod is much longer/clevis shorter than the factory part. That in and of itself I think wouldn't create a problem as the stroke length of the pedal determines how far the pushrod moves into the cylinder. However, it feels like with the new part, the piston in the cylinder bottoms out on a metal stop inside before the pedal bottoms out on the floor. It's really weird. Anyone have an answer or run into this before? Aftermarket parts strike again...

Thanks!

I guess I would examine the part heavily before final removal/and installation.

Is the new part an aftermarket item, or OEM?
There are some things that are better left to OEM.
I have found plenty of aftermarket parts that claim to be applicable to a certain model and yet when you go to actually install and/ or have functionality, it either doesn't work to spec or does not work at all.

I agree, with some parts it is either OEM or don't even bother.

I messed with it today; since I know the part is correct, I lowered the pedal height and readjusted the pushrod for proper pedal freeplay until the bottoming out sound/feel was gone. I had to lower the pedal by about a half inch. Still drives fine; it's actually somewhat better since the pedal doesn't have as much travel.

Darndest thing I've run into while working on this car. The piston/master cylinder was obviously bottoming out which supposedly will damage it. Good thing it's a lifetime warranty part...
