Need a new one for the LR3...factory or aftermarket? Any one have any experience?

AFAIK the dealer has proprietary rights to air bag parts but I could be wrong.

I would stick with OEM. I think I have seen Dorman make them for some applications.

Dorman ewwww yeah try to get OEM. But we couldn't get one for our 2010 or so Nissan Frontier at work. It's bad with under 100k on it.

Since it has something to do with the airbags and safety, I would get an OEM.

Comparing 3, got 2 from eBay, on the left is ~$10 eBay after market, middle came as OEM listed in eBay, right is from 2005 4Runner, v6 300k, likely the original.
The aftermarket is missing 2 of the 4 silver connector pins. I bought 2 as they were not expensive, used the OEM replacement ~$21 as I won! an auction for it, air bag light is off so far, no more code.

OEM. Airbags and seatbelts aren't something to experiment with.
