We have a plastic bead blaster at work, that is what I use on aluminum. Walnut shell if it is really bad in some spots.

Exactly. We’re talking about brake calipers, not body panel painting.

I have m12 angle grinder with some green scrubby m3 thing. Ill do my best to remove the remainder and paint it.
Its getting 2 part expoxy paint so it should be pretty good about sticking and staying.

I would look into an etching primer for aluminum before painting.
