Yeah, but would you be if your air filters cost $55 and you'd need to change them twice a year? And the alternative was equal filtration and an air filter once every two years. Which is false economy?
It's a false choice. I don't agree that a "cleaned" AF,filters,as well,as a new filter.

I don't agree either. It may actually cleans better. Well, that would depend upon how it was cleaned. Willy nilly blowing and rough treatment could cause damage but we were discussing the vacuum idea... vacuuming from the outside, which would be very gentle (unless you had some "montsa-suka" vacuum).

There are Smokers;and Non Smokers. There are Filter Cleaners;and Non Filter Cleaners. You gotta call your own shot.

that's true i guess but let us say that if it's expensive clean it otherwise just change it for your engine sake!!

I just tried the vacuum method on my small tractor and it worked great. I typically change the filter every two or three years with an annual light "dust off" I have a filter minder to install but it will be a little while on that yet.

Nah. The media filters. The caked dirt restricts air flow.

I've always tapped air filters to clean them. If you don't go overboard, it seems an easy way to get a little more service out of a filter.

On a related note, I vacuum or wash cabin air filters once or twice before changing them out.
