I heard somewhere that the meaning behind the band's name, "Three Dog Night" was that in Medieval times dogs slept under the owners bed for radiating warmth to the bed. Three dogs meant it was a cold night.

I got to see them at a concert in Rolla, MO, St Patrick's Day celebration at the college there in 1971. Was a really good concert. Chuck Negron and his performance made it very good and special. My future wife was with me, so that made that event really special in other ways, too.
