chrome spray paint?

I have a 1994 Dakota with a damaged chrome plated factory grill and good headlight surrounds. Getting parts off a used 92? with a dull light gray finish. Thinking about Rustoleum chrome or perhaps rustoleum aluminum while I have the grill uninstalled. Thoughts?

Those chrome paints arent really chrome.That has to be plated on.Those spray chromes rub right off.Argent,or silver is the closest you'll come.

"Chrome" paints do not give the sort of glossy, mirror finish that you get from plated decorative chrome. Instead you get a slightly frosted, silvery look with not much gloss to it. Looks cheap, actually.

I painted my truck wheels with chrome paint in a can. It never really dried. It was always sticky

I think we all understand that chrome spray paint does not equal chrome plating. He just wants to match up a few parts on his 1994 dakota. In which case its fine. He wants it to resemble the chrome of the other parts. Not invest a bunch of dough plating parts on his truck.

I've used many of the "chrome" spray paints. They produce interesting and sometimes attractive finishes, but they look nothing at all like smooth chrome plating. Not even with just right lighting.

Not chrome colored, but a silvery finish.

I remember when we were kids we would use the chrome spray paint to try and give our old BMX bikes the "chrome plated" look. Once you lacquered it,it looked pretty good. We would also sand the entire frame down to the metal,polish it,then lacquer it. That came out even better. We were trying to mimmick the nickel and chrome plated high dollar BMX frames of the day :^)
