Just another rant... Was doing some final shopping tonight, and it is getting harder and harder to find anything made in the USA, Europe or Japan. It is all being offshored more and more to China and Mexico mainly.

Im just starting to NOT buy stuff, rather than buy cheap junk that is not made here. Do without or with an alternative solution. This will not work forever though.

Sad.

I agree. I purchased my wife a spa package. The lady gave me a gift bag with their name on it, the bag was made in....China.

Geez. Even BAGS are made in China now.

I was in Sears the other day buying some sockets for myself. They had the socket set I was looking for, and another one exactly like it right next to it on the shelf. One was the regular Craftsman brand, and the other was some other brand called "Evolve." The Evolve was half the price of the Craftsman. I picked both up to see what the difference was.

Evolve: Made in China
Craftsman: Made in USA

I bought the Craftsman one.

Half the hand-sanitizers on the shelf are made in China. Sad to think that we can't even mix alcohol with gel-goop in this country at a profit anymore.....

The CEO's need that 4.7 mil Christmas bonus. They can't pay their child support, yacht or Rolls-Royce payment with out it. Don't forget they want next years bailout money too.

everything's being made overseas because the gov't believe we need to be breathing cleaner air, so they slam the US companies into getting into the Green thing, and they can't do it on a dime, so they ship the product and the job overseas and come back with a larger profit. If only some of the labor unions weren't so greedy, I'd bet more jobs wouldn't get moved out of the country.

It's just capitalism at work, what are you whining about?
FYI, Eric, the Clean Air Act has been in place a lot longer than US companies have been doing the China thing.

Buy online then. Most things can be found made in USA; you just won't find them in the retail stores.

Here are some of the ones that I have bookmarked. Some of these sites sell products with a mix of COO. Some tell you that, some don't. Some of the sites simply link you to mfg/sell sites that have made in USA products. Some may not employ US workers but I haven't included the ones that I know employ illegal workers. Of course, we have the issue of 100% made in USA vs. 75%, etc. including how to determine % (weight, cost, size, importance, etc.). As typical, some of the sites say something is made in USA when it is not either from slow to update site or deception.

I look at the country of origin on EVERYTHING I purchase. My wife does not.
I've tried to stress the importance of buying American or North American, but it hasn't sunk in yet. The irony here is that my wife is a computer programmer and on her previous job got laid off because her work was sent to Pakistan and India, the exact same people that she had to train.
