Oilboy, you are not alone in thinking that China can manufacture good stuff:

My new Red Wing boots are China made.

The new Raybestos advanced tech.rotors (their top line) are now made in China. My pads were made in India, though, thank goodness.

My Grainger's Dayton electric motors are mostly made in China now.

I predict that the Gearwrench brand will take over Sears...wait and see.....Danaher is testing the waters.

And on and on. My point...these top of the line companies are putting their faith in China, why shouldn't we?

Just call me mister grumpy tonight.

Yup, went up to the Red Wing store today. Bought some work boots: "Made in America with imported materials"

Guess that's as good as it gets nowadays. Looked at a number of Red Wing brand casual shoes, all "Made in China".

Red Wing brand is no guarantee of USA made anymore. Used to be that their "WORX" brand was the Chinese made version, now increasingly the Red Wings are Chinese made.

Companies can't seem to compete by making things in USA, pretty soon all Red Wings will be "Made In China".

That's sad, because 20 years ago, there weren't any Chinese made Red Wings.
