Chinese EV innovation - Ejects the battery

Fire in the hole!!!

Yes, but doesn’t that partially resolves overpopulation issues?
China supposedly stopped releasing population or any data that could be used to reverse engineer what their real population is. There are some western estimates that it is 4-500MM rather than the 1.4B they claim to have.

Optimism helps drive birth rates, and IDK about you, but a social credit score with a caste system isn't very optimistic to me.

"From falsified birth data to hidden death rates, Lei explains how the CCP has manipulated numbers for decades to project power, economic strength, and global influence."

Just remember how far the Chinese are ahead with electric vehicles. They should bring them here.
Some consumers only care about prices.
Some consumers do not care about American companies and jobs.

Of course being prudent spending is important, but don't be stupid.
A key reason I bought the Model 3 in Dec 2018 was because the Fremont Tesla plant had kick started the shuttered NUMMI plant and rehired many of the laid off workers. Not everyone around here is gonna be a lowly programmer like me.

That would be really interesting if they only had 500mln people instead of 1.4bln.

That is blaming the victim. American companies and others couldn't wait to have products made in other countries (mainly China) and close their plants and put the workers on the bread line.
Tesla is no shining beacon of an American company either but that is another story. Before blaming the consumer look at the reasons why.

I surely wouldn't call Tesla the savior either, but as a US consumer having as much of the manufacturing here is a huge positive. It's sad that it's the exception rather than the norm since so many companies left the US to save money and increase profit margins.

It's nice to buy American products but like the corporations themselves what puts the most money in my pocket wins. All else being equal. Im just honest unlike some others. Look around your homes. There is a reason nothing is made here anymore, including the device you are reading this post with.
Free markets, consumer wins.

Blaming the victim? Please. I am not a victim. And I said some consumers.
There is plenty of blame to go around. Regardless, as a consumer, I can choose to vote with my money. And I do.

Regarding Tesla, I'm sure you know the Teslas we buy here are the most made in America cars. While other car companies are far bigger in shear numbers, Tesla spends the most on R&D here, based on size, than any other car company.

I try to buy Western produced products as much as possible, sometimes it's difficult of course. My Michelin snow tires were made in Nova Scotia for example, all the hoodies, T-shirts and the like we ordered for our nuclear group are made in Quebec, printed/embroidered here locally.

Around the house it's a mixed bag. My turntable is a vintage Japanese piece, amplifier made here locally in Ontario, pre-amp made in the US, my B&W's were made in the UK, my Miele vacuum was made in Germany and the bags are made in Belgium. But the Dell computer sitting on my bench was made in Mexico, my Lian Li case made in Taiwan, my ASUS motherboard in Vietnam, ASUS video card and PSU both China.

The majority of my guns are made in the US or Canada with the exception of one Turkish piece. Glass is Japanese, American or German.

Electronics are definitely the most difficult to find and are often massively more expensive when you do.

That said, there is no such thing as "free markets". Government manipulation and intervention is everywhere, be it domestically or abroad. China's currency manipulation is legend, so this isn't the result of pure free market forces but bold manipulation and capitulation to CCP obligations, like technology share and domestic manufacturing requirements.

Same here. For some things it's practically impossible. I couldn't find a standing desk that didn't use Chinese motors.

Free market is mostly theoretical. In real world it's not very free.
