I have been looking for the old joke for ten years about heaven and hell! I laugh every time I think of it! I must say that I like Scottish eggs, banger and mash and shepherds pie though..My beloved Scottish grandfather sailed over in a boat as a boy around 1910 or so. Rest of my family is German or Hillbilly.
Anyway he used to eat brown beans on toast. Except I can not find the proper brown beans here. No idea where he got them, I think they were Heinz.
Only English meal I would like. Sorry, no disrespect intended.
There's an old joke where in Heaven the cooks are Italian, the policemen are English, the mechanics are German, the lovers are French and the bankers are Swiss - whereas in Hell the cooks are English, the policemen are German, the mechanics are French, the lovers are Swiss and the bankers are Italian.
Scottish eggs look terrible? Never had them. What do they taste like?I have been looking for the old joke for ten years about heaven and hell! I laugh every time I think of it! I must say that I like Scottish eggs, banger and mash and shepherds pie though..
Urban dictionary is considerably less credible than Wikipedia...and that's not saying much.Urban dictionary disagrees, so there prolly right. I prolly gonnna use it exclusively now!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a grinder toasted?MA I forgot. CT and RI not familiar as much however the dialect is distinctly different.
The only thing I hear is grinder and sub or submarine for sandwiches. Never that odd term “Sammie”.
CT is really just a suburb of NY. My wife is from Danbury and reminds me of that periodically. Maybe she just means Fairfield county?New to me.
I suppose it means Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire.
Are CT, MA and RI Lower New England? Prolly are.
Distinctly not. But seems like when anyone crosses the Rockies the art of a good sandwich is forgottenCorrect me if I'm wrong, but isn't a grinder toasted?
This is what a sammich means here.Distinctly not. But seems like when anyone crosses the Rockies the art of a good sandwich is forgotten
Would eat, but back the he!! off on the slaw. I love slaw but probably would fire sammich maker (depending on looks) if something like that was given to me while watching speed climbing.
I will try to describe the taste of Scottish eggs, but it would be like deciding to change oil based on the color of the oil on a dipstick…Scottish eggs look terrible? Never had them. What do they taste like?
Bangers and mash and shepherds pie are both potatoes with such a poverty level of meat they prolly count as vegan. There edible with enough hot sauce, which makes them distinctly no longer British.![]()
Well, if I get the chance to try one I will. I will admit I am still skeptical, but will try about anything once.I will try to describe the taste of Scottish eggs, but it would be like deciding to change oil based on the color of the oil on a dipstick…
Scottish eggs taste like hard boiled eggs where one wonders if someone forgot to peel the shell off and coated it with butter infused ground beef that has some crunchy bits of cheese mixed in. Texture is odd, but the flavor is great.
Heading which way?Distinctly not. But seems like when anyone crosses the Rockies the art of a good sandwich is forgotten
WEST! Good point!!!Heading which way?
I just threw up a bit in my mouth.Just had a thought....
How 'bout a Salmon Salad Sammie?
Italian has a word for that too.....agida (ahh'-gid-ah)I just threw up a bit in my mouth.
GramGramShe's your gramma.
Because dinner is the formal evening meal?I don’t have to wait till 7:00PM for a sitcom anymore - I can stream it anytime. Why should I need to wait till evening to eat dinner?
This. Sounds tasty!!But I must ask, was it my playful use of "sammie" or the mere thought of salmon salad?
I make a darn good salmon salad. Think of it as tuna salad made with salmon.
