I need to change the P/S fluid in the hydroboost unit in my 2008 Duramax.

Which P/S can I get for this? How much do I need?

Thanks,

syn P/S fluid?

Prestone, Bardahl, Gunk - syn PSF, where can I buy them?

Wow, lot more option than I thought.
I went to Napa and they did not have any amsoil or any syn PSF.

I found online, redline PSF, I can source it from summit or amazon.

"Replaces material # VV056 SynPower Power Steering Fluid
This product will help reduce and or eliminate the power steering whine noise associated with some GM Autos as stated in GM Bulletin # 1875699."

Available at your local Advance Auto. Make sure to order online (then go pick it up) and use a discount code.

Yes, that's the same link I posted above.

Don't get caught up in base oil group goofiness. Instead, focus on performance characteristics and OEM approvals.

-Specifically recommended for GM trucks
-Addresses the two main PS system issues (noise and leaks)
-Pour point of -42°C
-Available locally at a very good price (far better than Amsoil or Red Line)

Find them at various autopart stores, wallyworld...

Pepboys, Autozone, Napa, Oreilly, Carquest, AdvanceAuto... various stores carry various brands.

Other option is to buy online and have it shipped.

Thanks guys, maxlife it is for now.
From what I read, my duramax hydroboost holds 1 qt (??)
so I will vac out the reservoir and refill a few times for now.

Yes, IF $2.50 to $3.00 less a quart is considered a "far" better price.

(I use the Max Life PSF currently, and I was in a Pep Boyzz last week which was getting almost $10.00 for a quart!

I pay $11.95 AT MOST for a quart of Red Line PSF.)

MaxLife PSF retails for $7.99 at Advance Auto. With the 20% discount (no minimum purchase), even one quart gets knocked down to $6.39.

Various online places have Red Line PSF for $11.49, but of course they charge shipping on top of that. Even at your $11.95 price, that's a 87% increase in cost over MaxLife, so I'd still consider it to be far better.
