Seriously... How about some reasonable substance?

I had an aveo, drove it from DC to norfolk. It was OK. I only got 35 MPG on the trip which I was not thrilled about.

"economy cars" should be just that, no frills, economical items. Im glad if the car has no power windows, locks, etc. Less to go wrong. However at $16k, I agree it is a bit pricey it seems... A focus would likely be had for the same in such a trim, and is FAR bigger.

I still feel they're a joke when the next size up also gets near 40 mpg and has more sophisticated suspension and body integrity.

This goes for yaris/corolla, aveo/cruze. Holding out that the Fiesta might be as nice as the Focus, and maybe the Fit is the old Civic.

No, they had E tec engines up until a few years ago.

No, it is not anything like your "Titan". Nor will it ever be.

Yeah the Aveo is moving the truck is broke.

I just saw the window sticker in the glove box.. For 16 grand, there is just so many other vehicles available. Especially pre-owned. I have had GM's in the past and they are pretty decent vehicles. Just saying that GM needs to work a little in the entry level cars. A Ford Focus just seems to be better quality and materials for about the same price.

1. You had the base model-can't expect much-prob the 10 grand special. I know of no one who pays 16 grand for an Aveo. Also, the car only has a tad over 100 hp....

2. These cars tend to be for the high school/old people. Small, decent on gas, cheap to keep up one.

3. The current Aveo (even the freshened one) is base on a late 90s/early 00s design. So yeah, it's a bit dated...

I will say this...these little buggers do hold up pretty well. A buddy of mine baby sister has an 06 Hatch, and she beats that thing hard every day. 123k with no major repairs yet...

And there's the second unfair comparison in this thread...

A woman who used to work for me had an Aveo, which she had bought new at a deep discount, and found quite useful.
Contrary to what you have written, the car had decent trunk space, wasn't all that slow, and offered pretty good fuel economy.
It did develop lots of niggling minor problems over the miles, involving suspension bushings, the AC, the driver's door latch, and so on, that you don't find in a Toyota/Honda/Nissan, but it was a whole lot cheaper than any of those at actual discounted retail.
All in all, a decent little car, that served her well until she totalled it after being forced to drive off the side of the road by an oncoming car in her lane on a two lane road.

The window sticker on this one is right at 15. Yeah, I know the Titan is in the shop for a ignition relay, but it is 5 years old, has 65K miles (hard miles, towing, etc.). I have had a 97 Z28 that the intake manifold gasket went at 8K, and a 2000 Impala base model, that the injectors went at 5K.

The T has been good. I have nothing against Chevy, just for a vehicle that is base and stickers for 15, should be put together a little better. When you close the door, the inside pull handle, it feels like the entire door panel is going to come off.

for a basic grocery getter or in this case, rental use, it is fine. I bought my wife's 07 Altima in 08 for 17K and it is a much better vehicle, although used.

Base price for the Aveo is just under $12,000.

What base model Aveo do you have that stickers for $15,000? Is it an LS or an LT? Where did $16,000 come from in all your posts before this post? Why the drop of a $1,000? Were you fudging the number upwards in your previous posts?

IDK, maybe if he weren't simply making numbers up to suit his weak argument his opinion might carry some weight. Maybe if he weren't comparing cars across class lines with higher base prices he would have a valid point.
A base Aveo is 12,000 a base Focus is 16,500, in this price range thats a huge difference.

As it is, the opinion offered amounts to nothing but a bash based on numbers that he apparently made up. Why the change from 16 to 15 grand? Why cant I get a simple answer to what model he is driving?
