So how about it Bitogers. GM is still using DFM in spite of all the hand wringing at BITOG. Has something changed with the system?

Mods, I did screen shots from GM to show they are still using the system.

Until the gas guzzler tax is killed it won't go away. Corvettes without afm have the tax and it's about 2k while ones with afm don't.

It’s interesting that GM refuses to let go. They should have enough market research by now. If the 2027 version of the new engines still have it, it will be very telling.
The Government wont allow it. Theres rumors of a different system going forward, one that uses the rocker arm shaft as the means to disable the cylinder. I have seen similar on teardowns done on Ido car YT page but I dont recall what brand. Its likely we will see that sometime in the 2027's

What site are you looking at?

I just pulled up the same truck. No mention of DOD/AFM. Since you’re in Canada - I suspect that you’re seeing trucks for the Canadian market, and not those being sold in the US.

The U.S. Chevrolet site shows AFM or DFM and Stop/Start on all gas engines for 2026 Silverado trucks as shown below.
