I think highly of Chevron products, but I do not see anything remarkable about this oil...maybe some of our gurus will come along and show me the error of my ways, but I just don't see anything that would make me want to buy it based on its specs.

Is the chevron syn, the same as havoline syn?

Thanks pscholte. I too am interested in the 'gurus' opinions. The major reason I am using it is because I work for a company that sells it. At $5 per litre CDN, it's the cheapest SYN oil I can get. It seems to work well for me come winter and -30C weather.

The DD package is weak, but there is certainly some esters in the mix since the oxidation reading is high, and they may be relying on the esters for extra cleaning. This lab may not be calibrated for synthetic fluids.

And again, this may simply be a Group III fluid with esters for additive miscibilty.

Its a G3. I have a case of it by the front door that is going in a few ladies cars come fall.
03 Focus and 00 Cougar are 2 of them.
The price worked out to about $3.40 US/US qt.
I can't see where people think group IIIs are such a rip-off.
And the good news is, I found a pail of Delo 5W40 I didn't know I had, or thought I used up.
I guess I'm set for winter unless these forest fires burn my house down.
The closest one is 3.5 miles away, and we are on a one hour evacuation notice.
