Here's a VOA on Royal Purple 10w30, SL formulation, done by BlackStone.

Al 0
Cr 0
Fe 0
Cu 0
Pb 0
Sn 0
Mo 107
Ni 0
Mn 0
Ag 0
Ti 0
K 0
B 0
Si 1
Ca 1736
Mg 5
P 788
Zn 982
Ba 0

Viscosity SUS 210 60.5
Flash 445 F
TBN 9.5

Interesting, 60.5=10.35cst

Yet the 5w30 VOA I did was 11.4 cst. Supposedly these two oils have the same viscosity at 100c, so it seems to me that RP has a quality control problem here. No two batches are the same.

Patman,
Is it possible the differences in viscosity could be within the norm for differences in VOA? From what I've seen on this forum I'm under the impression that analysis might be close but not absolutely accurate.
I am in the process of being educated here.
Thanks.

From what I understand, viscosity is one of the measurements which is pretty accurate from one lab to the next, they generally don't vary by much more than about 0.2cst, or at the very most, 0.5cst.
