Chevrolet TV commercials

Hey, guess who does the voice work for the Chevy truck commercials? Clancy Brown, AKA "Mr. Krabs" from Spongebob. I like him as an actor and he has a great voice, but every time I see one of those commercials I hear that Eugene Krabs laugh.

Take that logging trailer and raise you 750 tons.

Yes, but the 6th gen Camaro SS is rated by many as a much better handling, and 'balanced' car than any Bimmer up to the M4 (and maybe even better than that one!).

(I do think the new M2 is a wicked looking/performing little coupe though.

I would hope the actors, I mean normal people, are getting paid well to come across as idiots.

I hate car commercials where all is mentioned are the "infotainment" features. The best commercials IMO were the old Nissan 300ZX GI Joe one, the Ford GT Super Bowl commercial, and the Mustang veteran commercial.

I was going to say the same thing. They advertise this feature and that feature, then say it only costs $22k. Actually no, you don't get any of those features for $22k. Only the $36k one gets those features. Also the guy running those "focus groups" is really annoying. Just something about him.

Theres a local commercial here in the Tampa Bay area about a guy who sells Kias, and says "It's gonna be HUUUUUUUUUUUGAAA" at the end of every commercial. I have never heard a more silly commercial. Even if I was in the market for a Kia that commercial would turn me away.

It looks like Audi? No it looks like BMW? It is better then my Audi. No it does not look like Audi, BMW and no, definitely is not better then Audi.

Its a commercial, what do you expect?

However, I'd agree with them that its better than an Audi in at least some ways. Pretty much anything is going to be less complex and more reliable than the lower tier of German cars like VW/Audi, even if they do achieve a few of the aspects of higher-tier German cars.

What is going to be reliable?
I drive only European cars and only had once Mazda, and that car left me stranded on the road.
So, would like to know how Malibu would be reliable then let's say Tiguan I have?
Complex? Like my friend mechanic said: when someone comes to me with GM product, unless it is oil change, brakes or suspension, I just tell them to find someone else. For one hour of work on VW, BMW, MB, you need four on GM.
It is good that they are trying to get their product better etc. but seriously? If there was no rent a car compnies they could kill all products except trucks, and some cars.

No mention of Volvo ? Probably he didn't work on any Volvo.

It should be "For one hour of work on VW, BMW, MB, you need four on GM and five on Volvo"

Yes they are real people. Yes they are not actors by profession. But they certainly are "non-actors" acting for these commercials. Yuck.

To me, the best car commercials are simple ones that are straight to the point.

Name off some great features.

Show pretty video of the cars exterior and interior.

Spout off some quotes or positive reviews the vehicle received.

Show me a price.

Done.

Pretty sure I heard on of his commercial when I was in Las Vegas.

"It's gonna be huge tom, Huge!"

Commercials are always bull. Nature of the game to convince people to buy something, regardless of their need.

Since I skip TV I get to miss most of 'em. However when I get onto the exercise bike I get stuck watching 'em on youtube. You'd think the cookies would do something to tailor the ads, but no. When I was shopping used Yaris do you know what I got stuck watching? Ads for brand new Jags. Lately I've been getting ads for high end Cadillacs.

Yeah he id, however that was not biggest issue, it is software and Volvo's policy when it comes to sharing software with people outside of network.

That's because your mechanic is familiar with VW and other foreign cars. I buy GM and Chrysler because they are actually made and engineered sensibly and are made so practically any barnyard mechanic can work on them.

On facebook, Chevy has been bombarding it with ads that say something like "Ford owners will be shocked and mad because just how extreme the new Chevy trucks are." yeah, right....Government Motors.

I'm not happy with the high foreign content in the new Chevy truck.

The ones that get me are where they don't even mention anything about vehicle's abilities...a classic example of this was the KIA Soul commercials with the rats driving the vehicle...so stupid...

There are always exceptions, but on the average NOTHING other than an exotic is more needlessly complex than VW/Audi products, and very few that are simpler than GM. I don't think anyone who's turned wrenches on multiple brands is going to seriously disagree. Just look at the VR-6. Or the cooling system plumbing on things as innocuous as older Jettas. GM has done a few ridiculous things too- like the Northstar engine with a starter under the intake manifold- but the majority of current products are just the opposite. The LSx and Ecotec engines are very streamlined, simple, reliable, and easy to service with minimal extraneous external plumbing and fittings and gew-gaws. I can see someone unfamiliar with GM and very familiar with Audi having to take more time with his/her first GM, but again- almost any mechanic out there will tell you that there's a reason the nickname is "Generic Motors." They're very simple and easy to service, and for the most part quite reliable.
