Ruby gets her Spring Spa treatment. 1993 Classic #263/1600.

My first time using Chemical Guys Carnauba. It worked well. But no better than Griot’s Best of Show.

Griots Best of show is hard to beat. I am a 100% Griots user.

Car looks and I great love the color!

Chemical Guys gave me a good incentive so I thought I’d try them. Their purple microfiber wax removal clothes and the blue microfiber waxing sponge pads are excellent.

I will not buy more of their carnauba wax. Griots Best of Show and Premium Carnauba are superior.

Thanks for the compliments on the color. Volvo used this color for 2 years only. It’s stunning up close.

Beautiful color and finish. Let us know how long the Chemical Guys stuff holds up. I'm a big fan of P21S Carnuba, but only get a few months out of a coat if its hot outside.

I used the CG butter wax today. It’s the easiest nauba polymer I’ve ever applied. I’m typically a coating or collinite 845 guy.

I wanna know more about that car…what a beautiful survivor 😍

The last 1600 Volvo 240s made were badged Classic. And numbered 1 - 1600.

We own numbers 140, 263 and 1446.

#1600 was driven off the assembly line through the streets to the Volvo Museum. To much fanfare and tears. The end of an era: Volvo produced 2.85 million 240s.

The Classics included all options: heated seats and heated outside power mirrors, wood trim, AC, cruise control, painted grill, headlight accents and outside mirrors. Very fancy.

For utility, comfort, ease of maintenance, low maintenance cost, reliability, durability and safety they are hard to beat.

We drive them all over the country. Usually fully loaded. Shown at the Badlands National Park.

I bought some Collinite 845 and used it on my Black Silverado and my wife's Denim Blue (XC60) Volvo. I have used Meguiars cleaner/wax for a long time-but didn't like the abrasive element in it on a frequently waxed black truck. I have also used NuFinish that also contains a mild abrasive.

I have tired all the tricks to make the Collinite more pourable/liquid-but still do not consider it user friendly. Your Volvo looks real good. Still following some of these threads to come up with something more user friendly.

The CG Carnauba, Griot’s Best of Show and Griot’s Premium Carnauba are easy to use. I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them.

I have not tried the CG Pure 3X but I am using up a can of Nanoskin Hydrophobic wax that is also a Carnauba/synthetic polymer paste wax. I have had it for several years and have not used all of it. IMO it is an awesome wax. I also have some Meguiar's hybrid carnauba wax that I saw that came out as number one in a video from an Australian YouTuber, but I find that one difficult to apply and remove by hand. @Sam_Julier how easy or difficult was it to lay that CG Pure 3X down and remove it afterwards? Amazing car, by the way!

Sue's and my first new car was a tan colored, two door, 1982 Volvo DL with 4-speed manual w/ overdrive. I remember we paid just a shade over $10K for it, which seemed crazy at the time.

Early on I put IPD springs and Bilstein struts/shocks on it. We put 172K trouble free miles on that car until I sold it to a good friend. He took it to 400K miles, eventually donating it to charity because it was burning oil. I remember him telling me the transmission still shifted perfectly, but he did R&R the clutch during his ownership.

I still think Volvos of that era had one of the stiffest body structures ever produced. Even at 172K miles the doors closed as solidly as a bank vault.

Easy to apply and remove the CG 3X. I waited 15 minutes after application to remove.

I used the CG purple microfiber cloths to remove. They were exceptional.

I have used both. I have a ceramic coating on one car and Carnuba on the other. Best Of Show felt smoother, shinier.
I am looking for a great carnuba wax, always.
Which one is best in your book?
Remember blue wax called Zymol? It was a great cleaner/base wax.

Griot’s Best of Show and Premium Carnauba are my favorites. Griot’s 3 in 1 when I need a carnauba plus a cleaner.

Like you, I prefer carnauba.

However, my daughter’s Volvo V30 gets ceramic wax. It lives on the streets of Brooklyn and commutes to the upper west side of Manhattan. In this environment ceramic wax lasts longer than carnauba wax.

Yes, our 240s are solid. I agree that the body is stiff. Great for longevity and unfortunately for transmitting road and engine noise.

I extensively sound deaden these cars. Plus weather strip the door jams to reduce wind noise. It makes a huge difference.

I've used Collinite 885 on my car since it was pretty much new. It's not a pure carnuba but it doesn't have any cleaners in it so I usually clay and light polish before application.

When my car lived outside I'd give it a polish and wax twice once in the spring and then again in the fall and that kept the finish nice all year round. Now that I've got a garage to park in it's usually just once a year.

The car turns 23 this june and still looks pretty good, so I've never had any reason to try anything else.

At least for me, Meguiars Ultimate Wax works well. It goes on and off fairly easily and doesn't seem to be abrasive like the cleaner/wax.
