Discovered this when going through the oil stash . The inside of the bag was lined with oil and the bottles covered . Cleaned them off with glass cleaner . Can fit 2 open or unopened quart bottles in 1 gallon zip lock bag , sometimes 2 bags for 1 or 2 bottles . The MOBIL 1 Annual Protection has been opened around 3 years and would use for top off if needed . Never had a bottle do this before . Also keep all bottles of fluids ( brake , antifreeze , oil , etc. ) new and opened in plastic storage containers .

I had a similar experience though my cap didn’t look like that. I also keep my partial quart in a zip lock bag and then in another bag with auto stuff. The ziplock was oily on the inside but the cap was on tight.

Never seen that. Did you over tighten the cap? Most bottles have some style of a “gasket” in the cap. It looks to be there in the photo.

Just my $0.02
