Only 50 cents a piece at a local thrift store. Grabbed the limit of 12, would've gotten a few more

I'm not a fan of Fram, but at least they weren't the orange cans of doom! They did have a bunch of the orange cans, but I went for the better ones

1x Fram Tough Guard TG3506 (for my girlfriend's Grand Am)
1x Fram Tough Guard TG3980 (for the Malibu)
1x Fram High Mileage HM3387A (for the Daewoo)
4x Fram Extended Guard XG7317 (for the Integra)
5x Fram Extended Guard XG3980 (for the Malibu)

Not a bad deal for only $6!

This wouldn't be a national chain thrift store? That is quite a score, especially the Extended Guards, which I believe have synthetic media fiber and are Frams' best.

Unfortunately it's the only one I know of in existence. It's the "Thrifty Outlet" of the Meijer chain, where they tend to put all of the discontinued/low volume items on discount. I've never seen any filters there before that I could actually use. I almost passed out when I saw a giant display box full of them! Oh, forgot to mention that they had about 24 quarts of Valvoline SynPower 10W-30 (with new bottles dating 2009) for $3.60 a quart. Pretty good deal, but I have too much in my stash already.

I was actually just at Big Lots today, no filters/oil in sight

The Tough Guards likely are a decent filter. If I could get it for $.50, I would even be tempted to buy an Extra Guard. After all I ran them for years with no problems.

For $.50 a filter, I would probably use a Fram. But there would be no extended drains.
I put 300K miles on an '88 Cougar that probably saw 1/3 of it's life on Fram filters. (Before I knew what was inside) It never had a valve cover or oil pan off of it.

They had a bunch of orange can PH7317's also, for 50 cents, but I don't want to run those on my car.

These being Frams, it would not have been a BITOG member.

Nice find, but I would avoid the High Mileage filter due to whatever magic snake oil that filter releases into your engine. No thanks. And I think the Tough Guards have the cardboard caps. I'd probably pass on those, also.

With that said, six bucks for nine Xtended Guards is a steal!

Has anyone figured out what the High Mileage stuff is in the HM filter? Might be interesting to cut it open and see.
