I saw this at Canadian Tire. It’s $170 USD equivalent.
Just a simple push mower probably best at trimming. Enjoy.

Bought a cheap Craftsman mower years ago ohv briggs- should have paid the extra $100 for the Honda power. What a pos, I figured it LOOKS like a Honda I'll take a chance.

And lower RPM. Lawnmowers usually run 3600 - 4000?

They like to state the peak torque value over HP rating for small engines. Peak HP will be the rated at 3,600 rpm, peak TQ will always be at a lower rpm.

Its marketing BS. Bigger number is better, so lets list the higher peak torque value on a engine instead of the lower peak HP value.

That 2500 rpm is torque peak

most new lawn mowers are set to turn 2900-3100 rpm these days from the factory for noise and to keep blade speeds well under the max

I usually turn them up as long as I don't need to go too in depth with modifications

My neighbors bought a new walk-behind last year, appears to be the cheapest mower they could find at the big box store. That thing sounds so anemic while running, at its set lower rpm as you mention.

looks ok. I like its not autochoke crap.. also most bargain models here are 140cc (or rarely even smaller)

At one time these mowers were using the Chinese Powermore engine ! not sure if that's still the case ?
They look good but on closer inspection they are very cheaply made and the steel deck is very flimsy with a lot of flex .
I had a self propelled version it had the 173 cc engine was powerful but very noisy and the deck flexed so much when twisting the mower to turn the blade would rub . Got rid of it.

Not great for the average owner who fills with untreated E10 and leaves it to sit year round. It does work out well for me though, this 1985 HR214's carb just needed a date with the ultrasonic. Cost less than two whopper combos and will outlive the green thing above.

The metal jets plug up just the same in the plastic carburetors.

Great find with that H214! Looks mint! That was probably a $500 mower back in 1985.

The engines aren't bad but the rest of the mower will fall apart pretty quickly. The decks and wheel mounts are paper thin on those mowers, they flex when you pick the front wheels up to turn.

The most useful tool for cutting grass is a powerful string trimmer. They will get into places a mower can't get to.

The mower is secondary in terms of importance.
