Is that possible? Had a Chevy pickup DOA in our parking lot not sure why. I wasn't paying attention but sure was when it came to life! The guy had a bottle of charcoal starter fluid and not the kind you can refill! I'm almost tempted to try this on a old mower this weekend! Too bad I couldn't record when that beast came to life..

If it works!

I got my old lawnmower to start one time by shooting an unlit propane torch into the sparkplug hole. Put the plug back in and let her rip.

All unmetered so it was pure luck in my case.

I always thought charcoal fluid was non-explosive like kerosene, rather the oppoisite of what you want from gas. Of course you cannot argue with success.

I have had good luck sloshing a little acetone on the air cleaner too. My buddy did that with an old Buick to get it started to take it to the garage. When he went to pick it up, they asked him ''How did you get that thing started?''.

My starting fluid of choice is Gumout spray carb cleaner. I always have 3-4 cans of it around. Works great and is not so violent as to harm an engine.
